Welcome to The Bourne RBL Club Bowls Section website.
The Bowls Section was founded in 1934 and has approximately 30 members. Affiliated with Bowls England, Surrey County Bowls Association, and Surrey County Women’s Bowls Association.
The club is competitive - the Ladies winning the West Surrey Ladies Bowls League Zone B trophy in 2007. We hosted the finals for the West Surrey Ladies competitions (singles, pairs, league, etc) on 16th August 2008.
Individuals and teams are regularly entered into the SCBA,, Three Counties, Royal British Legion, and other competitions. One of our couples won the Area RBL Mixed Pairs in 2007 and went on to win the South East RBL Mixed Pairs in 2008 and reached the UK semi-finals at Melton Mowbray in 2009.
We also have teams in the West Surrey Area 6, and Three Counties leagues. At the end of the 2009 season we were promoted to Division I of the Farnham & District League.
We also lay great emphasis on a friendly and social atmosphere. Every weekend throughout the season we have friendly fixtures against neighbouring clubs where every member is encouraged to enter.
We have a social evening at the British Legion club on the last Friday of every month throughout the year. During the off season we arrange social evenings such as skittles, quiz nights, and games evenings.
The British Legion club also arranges entertainment in the form of singers, bands, groups and discos and special “Curry & Skittles” nights in aid of the rebuilding fund..
New members are always welcome. It is no longer necessary to have been a member of the services to join the British Legion clubs. So come and meet us at a match or a social event or just contact our secretary.
