To the tune of Much Binding in the Marsh
1. At much bowling in the Bourne
We’ve had to think up something to amuse you
At much bowling in the Bourne
Or to the bar we probably would lose you
The subject of this ditty is the club we all adore
The characters within it and who bring it to the fore
So don’t blame us for anything that we may have in store
At much bowling in the Bourne
2. At much bowling in the Bourne
We want to tell you now a little story
At much bowling in the Bourne
It isn’t quite a tale of fame and glory
We want to show a little of the things that make us tick
We don’t think we’re the greatest and we may not always click
But we’ve a chest of draw-ers and we’re masters of the wick
At much bowling in the Bourne
3. At much bowling in the Bourne
Just one or two of us are really fliers
At much bowling in the Bourne
The rest of us are good and honest triers
We’ve thin ones and we’ve fat ones and there’s others short and tall
We’ve young and old and middle aged and some over the wall
And some with quite a lot on top and some with none at all
At much bowling in the Bourne
4. At much bowling in the Bourne
We’re very sociable and very friendly
At much bowling in the Bourne
We’re neither too old hat nor very trendy
We’ve members at the bowling club who come from far and near
Young Tommy Smith’s our scouser chap with accent loud and clear
We’ve even got a Scotsman we’re afraid it’s David Greer
At much bowling in the Bourne
5. At much bowling in the Bourne
We try to keep our bowlers fit and healthy
At much bowling in the Bourne
Our treasurer makes sure that we stay wealthy
But eighteen ends of bowling show the energy we lack
Though Fred just keeps on going he’s forever on the jack
It might be healthy living but more likely rum and black
At much bowling in the Bourne
6. At much bowling in the Bourne
A few of us are dry and some are witty
At much bowling in the Bourne
The biggest laugh of all is at committee
The Chairman calls for order it’s amazing that he’s heard
The Captain tries to have a say but can’t get in a word
And those with bright suggestions more than often get the bird
At much bowling in the Bourne
7. At much bowling in the Bourne
We’re happy that we’ve got our own pavilion
At much bowling in the Bourne
And our new watering systems worth a million
Improvements to the Legion Club have now gone out the door
The bar is there, new kitchen too but one thing we implore
Please finish the gents toilets cause we can’t hold on much more
At much bowling in the Bourne
8. At much bowling in the Bourne
Our summer bowling season is now ended
At much bowling in the Bourne
We don’t think there are any we’ve offended
And we enjoyed our sunny days it really must be said
We’ve cleared away and tidied up and put the green to bed
And now we’re having fun and games at Okehampton instead
At much bowling in the Bourne
9. At much bowling in the Bourne
We hope you have enjoyed this little ditty
At much bowling in the Bourne
We like to think the club is sitting pretty
We play together happily united in our goals
We take the weather good or bad and some green’s deadly rolls
And follow Gerry’s warning that we must not bounce our bowls
At much (two, three, four) Bowling in the Bourne
