Our President Fred Collinsstarted bowling in 1948, and still is still going strong..
Fred, who will be 99 this year joined the Bourne Royal British Legion in 1948 and was immediately drafted into the Bowls Section. In those days we only had two rinks running parallel with the club.
He reminisces that before and after WWII he used to enjoy watching bowls at Brightwells and thought it a splendid game.
Fred is still an enthusiastic player. He captains most of the friendly fixtures and is a deadly accurate Number One in most of the league games.
Club Triples Competition on Aug 1st.
Ladies Powder Puff Day on Aug 14th.
Shirley and John Tilley won the area finals of the RBL Mixed Pairs in 2007. On 7th September 2008 they won the South East Finals of the RBL Mixed Pairs at Wittering. They reached the National semi-finals at Melton Mowbery in June 2009.
